Tasting Our Own Beer! (ft. Rocks Brewing Co.)

In this special video, Paul, Xander, and Kane from Rocks Brewing dive into their latest collaboration beer, the "Brew Lord Sigma" or Cascadian Black IPA. This hoppy black ale, packed with Cascadian hops, brings together the best of both teams’ brewing styles for a unique and bold flavour profile.

First Impressions and Tasting Notes

On the nose, Brew Lord Sigma hits with vibrant orange peel and tangerine aromas, thanks to the generous use of Cascade hops. The roasted barley and caramel malts add depth, with hints of coffee and burnt orange blending for a balanced yet bold taste. As Xander notes, the flavours are reminiscent of a flambéed orange, offering a delightful mix of roast and citrus that isn’t for everyone, but will definitely appeal to those who love complex beers.

A Unique Brew

Brew Lord Sigma’s deep red hue shines through when held to the light, signalling its Cascadian IPA roots. The team agrees that while the beer has turned out well, there’s always room for tweaking—perhaps experimenting with the hops to dial back the astringency and amplify the fruity notes.

Final Thoughts

Paul gives it a solid 4 out of 5, recognising both its success and potential for refinement in future brews. If you're into hoppy ales with a twist, this one's a must-try. Stay tuned for more, and don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more craft beer adventures!
